Bring the pooch: Poochapalooza is from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at Strawberry Fields Athletic Park, 6100 152nd St. NE, Marysville. The big dog party includes features such as a runway show, a flying disc championship and a dog dancing demonstration. Root for your favorite pooch as he or she competes for awards in the "Best Kisser," "Best Costume," "Wackiest Pet Trick" categories or digs deep to try to win the dog's pie-eating contest. There are also vendors and rescue booths. Entry is $5. For more information, click here.Art in Mukilteo: The Mukilteo Waterfront Arts Festival is from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at Lighthouse Park, 609 Front St., Mukilteo. The festival includes more than 45 artists booths offering photography, paintings, glass art, jewelry and wearable art. There will also be a wood carving demonstration. Art By the Bay: This fine arts and live music festival features more than 100 juried artists and crafts people, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Stanwood-Camano Fairgrounds, 6431 Pioneer Highway, Stanwood. Admission is free. For more information, click here.
Fun in Arlington: The Arlington Fly-in continues through Sunday. There is an air show at 2 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. A car show and the Arlington Street Fair are on Saturday. Fun in Mill Creek: The Mill Creek Festival and Street Fair is from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. The event includes a main stage of bands that play music as varied as Elvis and steel drums. There will also be dancers, drama and martial arts. The festival has a kids corner where kids can tumble, play tennis and see a magic act. There will also be artists both with handcrafted items. To top it off, there's a beer and wine garden and a pet plaza that includes a performance by Puget Sound DockDogs with canine jumpers leaping into a 50-foot pool. To learn more, click here.
Fun in Sultan: The Sultan Summer Shindig is from 3 to 11 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at First and Main streets at River Park, Sultan. A carnival opens the 29th annual festival that pays tribute to Sultan's past. There's a grand parade at 10:30 a.m. Saturday followed by a fast-paced logger's contest at 1 p.m.; the shindig includes a car show, live entertainment and a street fair. "You shall not pass!" The Historic Everett Theatre is showing the extended versions of the "Lord of the Rings" movies. This weekend it's "The Two Towers." The film shows at 7 p.m. on Friday and 2 and 7 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. The final movie in the trilogy will be shown next weekend. Tickets are $10 general, $8 for seniors and military.
Fun for kids: The Plant Farm, 15022 Twin Lakes Ave., Marysville, is offering kids a chance to make chalk pots on Saturday. Kids can get creative with clay pots by painting them with chalkboard paint and, when they dry, decorate ? and redecorate ? with colorful chalk. Steal gardening ideas: Two garden tours are this weekend. First up, the Master Gardeners tour on Saturday in Everett and Lake Stevens. Four gardens will be open for you to tour and get inspiration.
