Jaguars To Help Bring College Football National Title Game To Jacksonville

Jacksonville Sports and Entertainment, a partnership which including the Jacksonville Jaguars, will, at some point submit a bid to the FBS conference commissioners to host college football's national championship game, according to the Florida Times-Union. On Wednesday, an agreement was reached to begin a four-team playoff in 2014.

"We're ready to do whatever we can to help the city in this effort," said Bill Prescott, senior vice president and chief financial officer of the Jaguars. "This is a win-win for everyone involved if Jacksonville can get this game."

How well would Jacksonville do as a host city? Times-Union columnist Gene Frenette seems to think pretty well:

Whatever anybody might think of Jacksonville, this place knows how to stage a quality sporting event. Who would have thought after the Jaguars came aboard that Jacksonville would land a Super Bowl, using cruise ships to offset the lack of five-star hotels? It happened because the NFL was convinced this city was organized enough to pull it off.

Stay tuned to SB Nation Tampa Bay for more on sports throughout Florida, including Jacksonville.
