Crisis talks
Talks are still under way to stave off bankruptcy at Channel 9, whose studios are located in Willoughby. It is struggling under the weight of a reported $4 billion debt. In late 2010, the company applied to redevelop its Willoughby site for a mixed residential and commercial tower of up to 20 storeys, though no further action was taken on the application.
Health diary
This October is Breast Cancer Awareness month and people can show their support for breast cancer research by buying the 2013 Australian Women's Health Diary. The diary has raised $8 million to date for the Breast Cancer Institute of Australia to support research into the treatment, prevention and cure of breast cancer.
Correction
A picture Newscap in an article titled "Resident shaken by suit" in last Friday's North Shore Times incorrectly states Lane Cove Alive took local resident Susan O'Neill to court for comments she made. Lane Cove Alive had no involvement with the case and the North Shore Times apologises for the error.

?Crows Nest chiropractor Dr Joseph Ierano has been elected as the new president of the Chiropractors' Association of Australia, NSW. The peak body represents over 1100 Chiropractors in NSW by informing the public of the benefits of chiropractic care and liaising with state government bodies and stakeholders.
?Overhaul call
?Local Government Association of NSW president Keith Rhoades said the current planning system was in need of an overhaul. But he was concerned the government's Green Paper recommended removing the opportunity for people to have a say on local developments at later stages in the process. "The reality is, most people don't take note of planning applications and decisions until it directly affects them."
?Roadworks on Kariola St
?ROAD resurfacing will take place on Kariola St in Lane Cove between Gay St and the cul-de-sac on Thursday, October 11, weather permitting. The work will take place for one day between 7am and 5pm.
Trivia night to aid cancer research
